The movement was just overhauled by Lenny Taube. The clock is mounted on a custom mahogany base. The movement has serial number 156372. The Chelsea Sales Ledger shows that the clock was sold on 1/31/1924 to H. H. Dodge. Since the Chelsea sales ledgers were transposed from the actual sales receipts, which were lost in a fire at the factory long ago, I suspect that the clock was actually sold to H. E. Dodge, Jr of Dodge automotive fame and the "E" was accidentally changed to an "H". H. E. Dodge, Jr. was an avid boater who started Dodge Boat Works and was obsessed with boat racing. It may be a small leap to make this connection but as we look at the details it becomes more and more probable. Below are links to further information about Dodge, Sr and Jr. and the amazing yacht SS Delphine. Email me if you have questions.
