Chelsea 8 1/2" Special Grand Dial Mahogany & Metal

Item ID: 1694 - Chelsea 8 1/2" Special Grand Mahogany & Metal aka Commander. A rare, early example in the finest condition. The case has the original copper bronze finish. The Special Grand dial with pierced center and raised numerals is in untouched original condition. The hands are original. Note the unusual hour hand that was on used on very early Chelseas. Serial number 11778 on the movement and case dates the clock to 1903. The movement has been serviced and is in fine condition, keeping excellent time and striking ships bells with classic Chelsea tone. I cannot imagine a finer, all original example. This clock is presented for your viewing pleasure, and for historical context. It is not currently offered for sale.


Chelsea 12" Marine Clock for the Saramar

Item ID: 1680 - Chelsea Clock Company 12" Dial Marine Clock for the Saramar. The clock was sold on September 13, 1910 to Fisher & Bro. Co. later Fisher Body Co. for Charles Fisher's yacht the Saramar. The clock has been completely restored, has a red brass case mounted on a Mahogany base patterned after an Admiral. The back of the case is stamped with serial number 67430, Saramar, YC611 and MV5777. The clock is perfect in every detail. Email me if you have questions.

Item ID: 1543 - Webb C. Ball - Chelsea 8 1/2" Pilot House Clock. The red brass case has been polished and lacquered. The 8 1/2" dial has the original silvered surface and is engraved Webb C. Ball Co., Cleveland. The case and movement are stamped with serial number 108863 dating the clock to 1917. The movement has been serviced and is in fine running condition. Boston Clock Company Marine Clock - 8 1/2" Dial

Item ID: 1494 - This is a rare, Boston Clock Company Marine Clock. The 8 1/2", silvered and painted dial is signed Boston Clock Company and has the original untouched surface. The movement has serial number A1621 and is marked Boston Clock Company, Boston, Pat. Dec 28, 1880. The case has been polished and lacquered. Chelsea 8 1/2" Base & Ball Feet Clock with Fine Original Gold Finish

Item ID: 1634 - Chelsea 8 1/2" Base & Ball aka Commodore. Serial number 186997 dates the clock to 1929. The very rare brushed gold finish is original and in superb condition. It is exceedingly difficult to find early Chelsea clocks with original finish in such fine condition. Examples with unusual original finishes like this clock are prized by Chelsea collectors. The engraved, filled and silvered dial has been restored. The ships bell movement has been serviced. The clock keeps excellent time and strikes with fine Chelsea tone. Chelsea 10" Special Dial Base & Ball Feet - Superb Original Verde Finish (Sold)

Item ID: Item ID: 1720 - Chelsea Clock Company 10" Special Dial Base & Ball with Superb Original Verde finish. Early large dial Chelsea clocks with original finish are exceedingly difficult to find. This example has a Verde finish in very fine condition and also has an unusual gold dial with raised numerals and pierced hands. Item ID: 1693 - Chelsea 10" Mahogany Gothic Clock. Serial number 103239. Ca. 1916. Another exceedingly rare large dial Chelsea Shelf Clock in superb restored condition.


Chelsea 8 1/2" Mahogany & Metal - Time Only (Sold)

ID: 1623 - Chelsea 8 1/2" time only Mahogany and Metal, aka Commander, is a fine example in the best restored condition. The case, movement and bottom of the mahogany base are all stamped with serial number 69152 dating the clock to 1911. The dial has been resilvered. The hands and regulator are all original. The case has been polished and lacquered. The movement has been overhauled and keeps excellent time. The base has the original finish that has been cleaned and waxed. The only minor defect is a small scratch on the glass near 9 o'clock. 8 1/2" Commanders are most commonly seen with ships bell movements. The time only examples are quite rare. Note that the depth of the case and base shallower than the examples with striking movements.

Item ID: 1384 - Chelsea 8 1/2" Yacht Wheel Clock aka Mariner. The quintessential Chelsea Ships Bell Clock that is very rarely seen in this size. The 25" tall red brass case has been professionally polished and lacquered. The 8 1/2'" engraved dial has been resilvered. The dial is signed Bailey, Banks & Biddle, Philadelphia. Serial Number 144102, on the movement, case and base, dates the clock to July of 1920. The case parts and base are numbered 405. The mahogany base has the original finish. The 8 day movement strikes ships bells with distinctive Chelsea tone. The clock is in good running order and keeping excellent time. The case has been polished and lacquered. The 10" silvered dial is signed Tiffany & Co, New York. This is one of only 2 examples known. Serial number #176424 dates the clock to 1926. Chelsea 6" Library Clock - Original Verde - #20679 (Sold)

Item ID: 1676 - Superb Chelsea 6" Special Dial Library Clock with original Verde finish. It is exceedingly difficult to find early Chelsea clocks with original finish in such fine condition. The Verde finish on this clock is the best that I have seen. The Special dial with raised bronze numerals and pierced serpentine hands is signed Wm. Wise & Co., Brooklyn, NY Serial number 20679 on the wood bottom and on the movement date the clock to 1906. Chelsea 12" Special Grand Mahogany & Metal Ships Bell Clock (Sold)

Item ID: 1538 - Chelsea 12" Special Grand Dial Mahogany & Metal Ships Bell Clock. The Chelsea Sales Ledger shows "#41783 2/13/09, Louis Weule Co., 12" Spec Grand., Copper Bronze, Hinge and Base". These large special grand dial Chelsea are the rarest, finest and most desirable clocks made by Chelsea Clock Company. While the clock shows accurately in the photos they do not convey the massive presence that only seeing the clock in person can convey. The case has serial number 41783 dating it to 2/13/09. The movement has serial number 47561, dated to 2/13/09, which was sold to Morgan & Allen which was a San Francisco Chelsea dealer with a special distributorship arrangement with the Chelsea factory. It appears that Morgan & Allen changed the movement of the clock for the buyer when the clock was almost new. A scan below from a Chelsea advertisement mentions this relationship. The superb red brass case has been polished and lacquered. One of the finest Chelsea clocks that I have ever seen.


Chelsea USLHS Clock - #185832 (Sold)

Item ID: 1689 - Chelsea USLHS Clock. Serial number 185832 on the case and movement dates the clock to 1928. The case has the original nickel finish in very good condition. The dial has been resilvered. The movement has been serviced. By oral history the clock was used at the Umpqua River Lighthouse in Winchester Bay, Oregon. Email me if you have questions.
